Family Medicine Resident Benefits

Family physicians are the backbone of the Penn Highlands Healthcare system. Although we rely on the specific skills of surgeons and other specialists on our team, it is family physicians who care for our patients from childhood through their senior years—forming relationships, teaching them healthy habits, helping them manage chronic conditions, and coordinating care with specialists.

At Penn Highlands, we value our family physicians—and especially our residents, who are the future of healthcare for the large and diverse Central Pennsylvania region that we serve. We offer the following competitive benefits to our family medicine residents:

  • Two weeks paid vacation per academic year
  • One week paid educational leave
  • Health insurance, and vision and dental (optional)
  • Malpractice insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • Retirement plan (optional)
  • Free parking
  • $1500 Personal Development stipend to attend conferences and other educational events
  • Certification and re-certification training in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
