Christina M. McGuirk, DO

Christina McGuirk, DO, is a Family Medicine Resident physician at Penn Highlands Healthcare. Dr. McGuirk completed her Bachelor of Science in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She then completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. McGuirk has extra training and experience in osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT) after completing a Pre-Doctoral OMT fellowship between her second and third years of medical school.

Dr. McGuirk has been co-lead in opening an Osteopathic Medicine Treatment clinic at the Penn Highlands Family Medicine Residency Clinic where patients are offered non-invasive techniques for musculoskeletal somatic dysfunctions. She also has been an active participant in the graduate medical education department at Penn Highlands; including aiding in implementing new policies, resident recruitment, and medical student training.

Dr. McGuirk loves to be a proactive resident physician and requests exposure to many procedures and learning experiences at Penn Highlands DuBois. She has worked extra hours in the Anesthesia department to perfect her intubating and nerve block skills. She has further interest in pursuing an Emergency Medicine fellowship after completion of her Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. McGuirk was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was a former high school and college athlete, having played soccer and volleyball at Notre Dame Preparatory High School and club soccer at University of Michigan. She loves hiking, running, swimming, and spending her free time with her husband and two beautiful children. Dr. McGuirk and her family love the outdoor activities that Pennsylvania has to offer and have enjoyed weekend trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
