Dhyani Shah, DO

Dhyani Shah, DO, is a Family Medicine resident at Penn Highlands Healthcare. Shah started her residency training in 2019. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University, New Jersey. She also received her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rowan University as well as Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science - Applied Kinesiology and Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University, New Jersey. Shah was raised and grew up in the central region of New Jersey. In 2019 she married her wonderful husband who is currently a Gastroenterology fellow in the central PA region. Shah is trained in classical Indian dance known as Bharatanatyam. She enjoys cooking and gardening with her husband. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, and kayaking, and spending time with her family and friends on weekends. She loves travelling to other countries with her husband and learning about various cultures through food.

Shah decided to come to Penn Highlands Healthcare for her residency training for several reasons. The program offers her an opportunity to learn and practice in a full-spectrum with strong osteopathic recognition. It also offers the perfect work-life balance, so that she can spend time with her husband and family. She enjoys working in a close-knit community which offers her multiple ways to stay connected with her patients and their families while working together with other faculty and residents. Over the last year, Shah believes she has gained the clinical expertise to be more independent with outpatient procedures and medical management through the residency clinic. She is currently involved in a QI project on COPD readmission rates. Her plan after residency is to practice in an outpatient setting in the central PA region.
