Providing safe care for patients is a top priority of Penn Highlands Clearfield. As a way to reach that goal, the hospital recently hosted a patient safety fair for staff and visitors. The event featured displays representing many of the patient safety initiatives at Penn Highlands Clearfield. Among the departments featured were nursing, dietary, pharmacy, environmental, radiology, laboratory, infection control, performance improvement, rehabilitation services, engineering, emergency medicine, food and nutrition services and surgical services. Several outside agencies, including Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency, Clearfield Borough Fire Department and Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority, were also present. Here, Jonathan Buck, R.N., director, clinical informatics, left, and Lisa Rorabaugh, R.N.C., director, patient safety, use a mannequin to demonstrate bar-coding technology, one of the strategies used to prevent medication errors.
All Penn Highlands Healthcare inpatient and outpatient services continue to be safe and fully operational. All patients and support persons must wear masks in our facilities.
