Penn Highlands DuBois September 2015 Employee of the Month
Charlotte J. Muckinhaupt, RN, clinical supervisor in the Intensive Care Unit, has been named Employee of the Month for September 2015 by Penn Highlands DuBois.
Charlotte is responsible for patient care as well as daily auditing of charts, scheduling and making assignments. She ensures optimal patient flow and quality of care is provided during the nightshift hours.
Charlotte started in the ICU in September 2013. She became clinical supervisor in January 2015. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. She is currently attending Chamberlain College of Nursing to finish her bachelor’s degree in nursing through a Penn Highlands Healthcare scholarship. Charlotte is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
“Charlotte has been an excellent addition to the Intensive Care Nursing team,” Joanne Kurtz, RN, director of the ICU, said. “During the two years Charlotte has been with us, she has excelled in her clinical practice and in her leadership skills. Charlotte provides excellent, detailed care that focuses on excellence in practice. She demonstrates kindness to her patients and families, demonstrates ownership of the unit, and she goes ‘above and beyond’ the set expectations of the registered nurse. She maintains a positive attitude and is highly regarded among the medical and nursing staff.”
“Since her employment at Penn Highlands DuBois, Charlotte has been awarded the Nightshift Supervisor position in ICU. She has transitioned to this role without difficulty and is assisting to lead the ICU team,” Joanne said.
“My favorite part of my job would be my patients,” Charlotte said. “I learn something new from them every day and strive to make their difficult time as short and as easy as it can be for them. My next favorite part is my team. I feel extremely proud to work with such an amazing group of people.
Charlotte is a native of Meadville. She currently resides in DuBois and in my spare time she loves to travel, kayak and go on hiking adventures with her family and black lab, Luna.
