In completion of his Eagle Scout project, Dan Stauffer, a student at Elk County Catholic High School, recently built new, wheelchair-height gardens and repaired the existing flower boxes at Pinecrest Manor. The project took several months, starting with a presentation of his plans to his scout troop last fall. Once approved, Dan sent letters to several local businesses, asking for donations. With great generosity being shown, Dan was able to purchase materials. Dan cut all the lumber himself and, with the help of a crew, installed the gardens. He received a donation of soil for the gardens and flower beds. Some paint and stain completed the project. In the photo, Dan is pictured with residents Paul Gunsallus, Rose Scutella, Robert Bohn and Joseph Hagen.
