Penn Highlands Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of longtime healthcare executive Tarun K. Ghosh as chief financial officer, CFO.

As part of the Penn Highlands senior leadership team, Ghosh will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall operating and strategic financial plans for the organization and its affiliates. He will work with senior leaders throughout the system to create operational financial plans, budgets and projections to build upon Penn Highlands’ financial position.

“Tarun’s extensive experience in healthcare administration, finance and information technology positions him perfectly to support our continued growth and operations,” said Steven M. Fontaine, chief executive officer of Penn Highlands. “In this vital leadership role, Tarun will serve as a driving force in our journey of continued success as we strategically work to best deliver the highest quality healthcare to the communities we proudly serve.”

Ghosh comes to Penn Highlands with nearly 20 years of leadership in healthcare finance, information technology and consulting with organizations across the nation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting and finance, from the National University of Singapore. He subsequently earned a certificate of finance from the Institute of Banking and Finance in Singapore, as well as a graduate diploma in Japanese management & consulting from the National Productivity Board, Singapore, in partnership with the University of Tokyo.

Most recently, Ghosh served as vice president and CFO for Prime Healthcare System in East Liverpool City, Ohio, where he was responsible for the financial oversight of a 150-bed acute care facility, medical group with eight clinics and a home health agency. He also previously served as senior vice president, CFO and chief information officer, CIO, for Rideout Health, a Yuba City, Calif.-based health system with a 232-bed acute care facility, medical group with 20 clinics, a 145-bed skilled nursing facility and a home health agency. Prior to that, he held the role of vice president of clinical services for ISH, Inc. in Fairfield, NJ, where he managed more than 80 clinical and financial consultants, working with hospitals and health systems across the country.

In his career, Ghosh has lead revenue cycle management projects, negotiated payor contracts, restructured financial reporting practices, streamlined supply chain processes, developed financial reporting systems and implemented enterprise-wide financial and clinical systems. In addition, he has generated internal controls for primary and specialty care clinics and has overseen numerous support services departments within a hospital and health system.

“I am deeply privileged to take on this role for an outstanding health system,” Ghosh said. “Healthcare is constantly in a dynamic state of flux, and, as such, today’s healthcare CFO needs to be both an innovator and change agent to quickly adapt as the industry evolves. I look forward to contributing to a strong operational platform so that Penn Highlands can continue to deliver on its mission to provide the best care possible to patients throughout the region.”
