Penn Highlands Healthcare Appoints New CFO

Welcome Heather B. Schneider

Heather B. Schneider, PhD, is the Chief Financial Officer for Penn Highlands Healthcare.

Heather is responsible for developing and implementing the overall operating and strategic financial plans for our system. She works with senior leaders to create financial plans, budgets and projections while creating efficiencies in our business processes.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Penn Highlands Team and look forward to putting my years of healthcare finance experience to good use in the community I now live in,” she said.

Heather came to Penn Highlands from Florida where she was Chief Financial Officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, an acute care facility with 333 licensed beds and $350 million revenue.

Before that, she was Chief Financial Officer of Florida Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and The Hospitals of Providence East Campus in El Paso, Texas. She worked in rural hospitals as Operations Controller for LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., in Brentwood, Tennessee, and as CFO for Raulerson Hospital, a sole community hospital in Okeechobee, Florida. Heather has also been a Controller for a large trauma center, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Heather was a member of the Board of Trustees, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Palm Beach Area Chapter; Co-Chair of Tenet CFO Council; and a member of the Board of Advisors and Forum 7 Member of The Commonwealth Institute, South Florida.

She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American College of Healthcare Executives and National Association of Professional Women.

Heather received her doctoral degree in business administration, health services, with honors, and her master’s degree in business administration with honors, both from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida, and her associate’s degree in accounting from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.

Heather grew up in Florida, but she now makes her home in Treasure Lake, DuBois, with her husband, Doug (an Ohio native), daughter, Ashlyn Brooke, age 7, and rescue dog, Elsa. She and her family are thrilled to finally have “real” seasons and enjoy traveling to see what their new home state has to offer and no, they don’t miss Florida at all!
