Welcome Tonya Aversa, CRNP

Penn Highlands Elk welcomes Tonya Aversa, certified registered nurse practitioner, who sees patients at the QCare St. Marys

Aversa diagnoses and treats patients in the region with minor, acute illnesses and injuries. She offers expert care to those in need of suturing, sports physicals and even treatment for flu symptoms, fevers, coughs, sinus problems or ear aches.

“Nurse practitioners are valuable members of the health care provider team, especially in rural areas where access to health care is limited,” said Aversa. “I look forward to working with the QCare team to provide care to those who are unable to get in to see their primary care providers quickly.”

Aversa earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, Va. She earned her bachelor’s degree in health planning and administration from Pennsylvania State University in University Park and her master’s degree in nursing from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the Tri-County Regional Nurse Practitioner Association.

Aversa currently resides in her hometown of Emporium with her husband, Robert, and their youngest child, Robbie. She has two grown children, Chelsey of Seattle, Wash. and Kacie of State College. She is a member of the Emporium Fire Department Auxiliary, the Cameron County SPCA, the Northern Tier Community Action Health Advisory Committee and the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
