Penn Highlands Huntingdon Introduces Ultrasound Liver Elastography for Advanced, Non-Invasive Care

Penn Highlands Huntingdon is expanding its diagnostic imaging capabilities with the introduction of ultrasound liver elastography. This state-of-the-art service provides patients with an advanced, non-invasive method to detect, evaluate and monitor a wide range of liver conditions.

Liver disease can progress through multiple stages, often without early symptoms. Ultrasound liver elastography offers a comprehensive tool for physicians to diagnose and manage conditions including inflammation, steatosis (fatty liver disease), fibrosis (scarring of liver tissue), cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Diseased or damaged liver tissue typically increases in stiffness over time. Ultrasound liver elastography works by measuring the speed of sound waves passing through the liver tissue to assess its elasticity and density. This enables providers to more efficiently track disease progression and treatment effectiveness o
