Infusion Services at Penn Highlands Healthcare
Infusion services are offered to patients requiring intravenous (IV) medications to treat their conditions. Each of our Penn Highlands locations offer infusion services in private, comfortable rooms featuring state-of-the-art equipment and infusion pumps. Our medical team works together to coordinate care that is personal, effective and convenient.
What Services can be Provided at an Outpatient Infusion Center?

Penn Highlands Mon Valley Ambulatory Infusion Center is located on the second floor of the Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion.
Infusion is the introduction of a substance (i.e., fluid, drug, electrolyte) directly into a vein or between tissues, often by gravitational force such as an infusion pump.
The Ambulatory Infusion Center at PH Mon Valley is currently offering the following services to adult and geriatric patients:
- Transfusion of blood products.
- Therapies involving the medications Remicade and Dobutamine.
- Antibiotic therapies (first dose for home infusions, injections, or daily to weekly infusions).
- Immunoglobulin IVIG (infusion of antibodies produced in lymph tissue).
- ACTH (Cortrosyn) stimulation tests. This is a test conducted to measure the ability of adrenal reserve. ACTH is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland that stimulates the adrenal glands, and the test is helpful in determining if the adrenal and pituitary glands are normal.
- Steroid infusions post transplantation.
- IV hydration.
Infusion services are elective, pre-scheduled procedures performed Monday through Friday. Individuals seeking more information on infusion services should talk with their personal physician.
The Outpatient Infusion Center is located on the 5th floor of Penn Highlands DuBois.
This center provides infusion therapy, which is the administration of medication prescribed when a patient’s condition is so severe that it cannot be treated effectively by oral medications. Typically, infusion therapy means that a drug is administered intravenously. Many rheumatology patients receive their medications this way, and this location is tied specifically to rheumatoid diseases.

Penn Highlands Tyrone Outpatient Infusion Center is located 187 Hospital Drive, inside Penn Highlands Tyrone.
Services offered:
Blood Transfusions: Patients who need a blood transfusion have access to this service on the PH Tyrone campus, more information about the blood transfusion services offered please call 814-684-6384.
IV Medication Therapy: Patients who need to have medications administered intravenously by a healthcare professional on an outpatient basis can have this service performed at PH Tyrone. Your physician can arrange this service for you by contacting the hospital at 814-329-8524. Appointments are required. IV medication therapy can be scheduled Monday through Friday.
