Dr. Ann-Marie Cittadino’s Story
We take care of the community.
Ann-Marie Cittadino, MD, is no stranger to challenges. Following completion of her Master’s degree in biomedical service, she worked three jobs, including employment as a scribe, adjunct professor and restaurant server, to put herself through medical school. While she enjoyed all of the specialties in her rotation while at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, PA, she found greater satisfaction treating emergencies in those specialties. It’s no wonder that she finds fulfillment providing highly specialized care to patients experiencing emergency medical situations in the Penn Highlands Huntingdon Emergency Department (ED). Dr. Cittadino has been a member of the ED staff for the past four years.
“I enjoy getting to know the people who come to our Emergency Department for medical care,” explained Dr. Cittadino. “It is meaningful to me to provide care to someone who I never met before and help them feel better – physically, mentally and emotionally. Helping our patients reminds me that all of my training and all of the work I do is worthwhile.”
Although she was raised in Tinton Falls, NJ, very near the Jersey shore, Dr. Cittadino now makes her home in Central Pennsylvania.
“Medicine is much more than using your medical knowledge and making a diagnosis; it’s also being there for the patient and trying to understand how they feel. I feel very connected to this community – and protective of the residents. At Penn Highlands Huntingdon we are friends helping friends and neighbors helping neighbors.”
