QCare Walk-in Clinic - No Appointment Needed
Walk-in Care
Not all minor injuries and illnesses happen during normal business hours. Even when they do, your doctor might not be able to see you right away. Or maybe you don’t have a primary care provider.
QCare Walk-in Care is a type of primary care that’s perfect when you can’t get scheduled to see a primary care physician and your condition isn’t serious enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room. Penn Highlands offers immediate primary care at its QCare walk-in clinics in Brookville, Clarion, Clearfield, DuBois, Emporium, Huntingdon, Philipsburg, Punxsutawney, Ridgway and St. Marys.
QCare Care vs. Emergency Care
If you or a loved one has a serious or life-threatening injury or illness, call 911 or go straight to the emergency room. Penn Highlands Healthcare has emergency rooms at each of its hospitals that are open 24/7.
If you need to see a primary care provider now—but your condition is not life-threatening—QCare provides walk-in clinics for minor injuries and illnesses. Staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants, QCare walk-in clinics are a great option when your primary care office is closed or you can’t get an appointment as quickly as you would like.
For many patients, QCare walk-in clinics are an extension of their primary care offices. QCare clinics can treat:
- Back pain
- Bladder infections
- Coughs, colds, sinus problems
- Earaches
- Fever
- Flu-like symptoms
- Minor aches and pains
- Minor cuts and abrasions
- Minor eye problems
- Rashes
- Sprains
- Tick and insect bites
- Vomiting
If you think you are experiencing a life-threatening condition, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention at the nearest emergency department.
When to Seek Emergency Care
There are times when it is not appropriate to visit QCare walk-in clinic or to seek urgent care. Call 911 or get to the nearest emergency room if you have:
- Chest pain
- Compound fracture (bone visible)
- Dizziness
- Ingestion of poisons
- Major head injuries
- Major trauma
- Seizures
- Severe abdominal pain
- Severe burns
- Shock
- Shortness of breath
- Snake bites
- Uncontrollable bleeding
QCare walk-in clinics offer pediatric walk-in care, but all children under the age of 1 should be taken to the emergency room.
Do I Need an Appointment for Walk-in Care?
QCare walk-in clinics do not require appointments. Walk right in to any QCare during normal business hours when you're seeking convenient primary care services.
Items to Bring to QCare
To treat you as quickly as possible, please bring with you to the QCare walk-in clinic:
- A picture ID
- Your insurance card
- A form of payment
- A list of medications you take and dosages
- Contact information for your primary care provider
Insurance Coverage for QCare
Our QCares provide walk-in services, they are not urgent care facilities. Considered an extension of primary care offices, QCare is billed as a physician office visit. Your bill will reflect physician office services and may be paid differently by your insurer than a bill for services rendered at an urgent care center. All co-pays and deductibles will apply and payment will be expected at the time of services. All physicals are prepaid at the time of visit.
All QCare services are provided regardless of the patient’s ability to pay. Penn Highlands Healthcare’s financial assistance program can be applied to QCare services and visits. Costs are explained and available for those who are paying out-of-pocket.
