Imaging (Radiology) Services

It’s What Is On The Inside That Matters

Because healthcare providers can’t see what’s happening inside your body when you’re ill or injured, they rely on high-tech imaging to help tell the story. All four of our hospitals use state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment to take internal pictures of the body to determine the location and nature of an injury or illness. And for convenience, X-ray and ultrasound services are provided in locations outside of the hospital in our outpatient clinics.

In addition to its diagnostic role, imaging also can be used throughout a treatment program to measure the effectiveness of specific types of treatment. Typically, these procedures are used as part of the treatment plan by oncology, pulmonary, trauma and orthopedic specialists.

In partnership with many other specialties throughout the hospital system, Imaging also provides specialized tests. For example, low-dose CT scans specifically for lung cancer screening can be covered by insurance or for a flat fee for those who meet criteria. Cardiac MRIs are also performed by a cardiologist trained through Columbia University.
