Ox’s Story

It was just like home.

When Punxsutawney resident Ronald “Ox” Hetrick was discharged from Penn Highlands DuBois following a brain bleed in the spring of 2025, he took up residence at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. During his six-week stay at the skilled nursing and rehabilitative community of Penn Highlands WRC Senior Services, he received physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

“If you are getting old, go to McKinley,” said the 85-year-old retired machinist who received the nickname Ox during his high school football days. “I really liked the care that I received. The therapy was excellent and I was treated very well. It was just like home. They even had a farewell celebration for me when I left.”

Ox liked the care so much that he returned with a PICC line to treat an infection in February 2026.

“They were glad to see my return because they had a welcome back celebration for me. I would recommend McKinley to others!”
