George F. Guirguis, DO, FACOG

George F. Guirguis, DO, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist providing full-time telemedicine service to patients at Penn Highlands Perinatal Consultants in DuBois. Dr. Guirguis specializes in perinatology, also known as maternal-fetal medicine, a subspecialty of obstetrics that focuses on the care of the fetus and complicated, high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Guirguis is an expert on medical, genetic and surgical complications of pregnancy and the effects on both the mother and the unborn baby. He is here to ensure mothers and newborns receive all the help they need.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Guirguis founded and served as chief executive officer of Perinatal Diagnostic Centers of New York & New Jersey in Hoboken, N.J., and was the medical director at FemGyn Urgent Care Centers in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In addition, Dr. Guirguis is a highly published researcher. Topics of research include preeclampsia as an independent predictor of diastolic dysfunction, assisted reproductive technologies, cesarean delivery, external cephalic version, telomere length dynamics in early life and telomeres and replicative cellular aging of the human placenta and chorioamniotic membranes.
