Penn Highlands Healthcare Celebrates Grand Opening of New Community Pharmacy and Eye Center in St. Marys

Local leaders, healthcare executives and community members gathered this morning to officially celebrate the grand opening of the new Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy-St. Marys and Penn Highlands Eye Center.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on the campus of Penn Highlands Elk, marked an important step forward in expanding accessible, convenient care to the region.

The event featured a keynote address from Julie Peer, President of Penn Highlands Elk, who highlighted the organization’s commitment to building a more integrated healthcare experience.

“Community pharmacies are essential to the region’s overall health,” said Julie. “In rural areas, they serve as a convenient point of access for prescriptions, education, medication and vaccines. With this move, we continue to offer the same services with efforts to provide high-quality, expert care within our communities.”

Julie was joined by Penn Highlands Healthcare leadership, including Michelle Bennett, Pharm D, BCPS, System Director, Retail Pharmacy, and Sheree Hunt, Director of Surgical Specialty Services, as well as local community leaders and representatives from the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce to officially cut the ribbon.

Following the ceremony, attendees and community members were invited inside for guided tours of the facility.

The new location at 765 Johnsonburg Road in St. Marys emphasizes patient convenience and brings retail pharmacy, ophthalmology and optometry services together under one roof.

Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy-St. Marys offers in-person, online and telephone refills, free delivery service, immunizations and vaccinations and over-the-counter medications. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Penn Highlands Eye Center features a full optical department and offers comprehensive ophthalmology services, surgery and routine optometry care. The center is accepting new patients and is open 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
