Penn Highlands Huntingdon To Restrict Visitation

The health and safety of our patients, families and staff members is our top priority. Penn Highlands Huntingdon has developed protocols to maximize the safety and health of our patients, visitors, and staff from the spread of COVID-19. Our guidelines are based on information from national, state, and local healthcare officials. We continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and continue to update the guidelines as needed to provide safe care.

Huntingdon County has seen a dramatic increase in the number of COVID-19 cases over the last week and Penn Highlands Huntingdon is temporarily restricting visitation on the inpatient units. The change is only impacting the inpatient medical/surgical unit and ICU. Current restrictions of no visitors in the behavior health inpatient unit will continue to be followed. One designated healthy support person is allowed in the emergency department and outpatient areas. Penn Highlands will continue to monitor the volume of COVID-19 cases and continue to have the safety of our staff and community as our primary focus.

In addition to restricting visitation, we continue to follow other COVID-19 prevention protocols, including entry screening, facemasks, social distancing, and frequent facility sanitizing. Families are encouraged to stay connected with their loved ones utilizing Facebook, Zoom, Skype, and phone calls to virtually visit with loved ones while they are hospitalized.
