Welcome Kaushal J. Shah, MD

Penn Highlands DuBois welcomes Kaushal J. Shah, MD, to its medical staff, according to John Sutika, hospital president.

Shah, board certified vascular surgeon, will offer treatment and services to patients at Penn Highlands Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, located at 145 Hospital Ave., suite 300 in DuBois.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Shah to our medical staff,” said Sutika. “As the first vascular and endovascular surgeon at our facility, he offers a highly specialized and advanced quality of care to our patients that wasn’t previously available in our community. Dr. Shah brings with him knowledge and expertise that will serve as a significant benefit to his patients.”

“I am looking forward to providing meaningful and compassionate care for our patients, while improving their overall health and functional status,” said Shah. “Also, when necessary, I am able to offer cutting-edge, minimally-invasive endovascular surgery options for various vascular conditions, which offers shorter recovery time for our patients and a quicker return to their homes. My goal is to be able to get my patients healthy and walking as soon as possible.”

Shah comes to Penn Highlands from University Hospital, Parma Medical Center in Parma, Oh., where he worked as a vascular and endovascular surgeon. He also served as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Oh. and at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Oh. Additionally, Shah has been trained and worked at some of the finest and most prestigious institutions around the country. He has participated in various national and regional clinical trials and research projects for the benefit of his patients. For more than a decade, he has performed and gained significant clinical experience and expertise in providing the newest, cutting-edge, minimally-invasive endovascular surgery options fo rhis patients in order to improve their vascular health.

Shah earned his bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., and his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, N.J. He completed his general surgery residency with the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Md., and his vascular surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He is board certified in vascular and endovascular surgery, and is a member of numerous surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement and the Society for Vascular Surgery.


In his free time, Shah enjoys running, bicycling, hiking, skiing, landscape photography, traveling and spending time with his family.
