Welcome, Megan P. Lundgren, MD

Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes bariatric and general surgeon Megan Lundgren to its medical staff.

Dr. Lundgren joins the team at Penn Highlands Bariatric and General Surgery in DuBois, located at 90 Beaver Drive, Suite 122-D, in DuBois.

Dr. Lundgren, a native of DuBois, specializes in minimally invasive foregut and bariatric surgery. Weight loss surgery not only treats the disease of obesity, it can also be an effective treatment for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, acid reflux and obstructive sleep apnea. Surgery can also greatly reduce the risk of death from cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other conditions.

Common treatments and procedures include bariatric surgery, paraesophageal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, gastric resection, surgical and endoscopic gastric emptying procedures for gastroparesis (laparoscopic pyloroplasty, per oral pyloromyotomy, subtotal gastrectomy with reconstruction), per oral endoscopic myotomy and laparoscopic Heller myotomy for achalasia, and laparoscopic hernia repair.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Lundgren completed a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and a residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
