Welcome New Physicians - April 2024

Penn Highlands Healthcare offers 849 physicians who provide a wide range of care and treatments at our eight hospitals and locations throughout 26 counties in Pennsylvania that include community medical buildings, outpatient facilities, surgery centers and physician practices. We are pleased to welcome the following physicians who recently joined our medical staff.

Varun Dobariya, MD
Monongahela

Internal medicine provider Varun Dobariya, MD, joins the team at Penn Highlands Internal Medicine, located at 1029 Country Club Road, Suite 204, in Monongahela.

As an internist, Dr. Dobariya provides diagnosis and treatment for a broad and comprehensive spectrum of illnesses that affect adults. He is a fellowship-trained specialist, conferring him with the highest degree of education and training within the field of internal medicine.

Dr. Dobariya is a graduate of Aureus University School of Medicine in Oranjestad, Aruba. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Swedish Hospital (Northshore University Hospital) in Chicago, Ill.; and West Suburban Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. He completed his research fellowship in internal medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology and American Medical Association.

Brian Goldwasser, MD
Connellsville

Board-certified internal medicine provider Brian Goldwasser, MD, joins the team at Penn Highlands Internal Medicine, located at 700 Park Street, Suite 5, in Connellsville.

Dr. Goldwasser has nearly two decades of experience and is dedicated to building long-lasting relationships with his patients to provide them with comprehensive care that meets their health goals.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Goldwasser practiced at Personal Care Medical Associates in Pittsburgh; Community Life in New Kensington; Heritage Valley Medical Associates in Ambridge, Sewickley and McKees Rocks; Allegheny County Jail Infirmary Medical Clinic in Pittsburgh; Lung Institute of Pittsburgh in Seven Fields; Pittsburgh Medical Associates in Pittsburgh; and Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.

Dr. Goldwasser is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Krishna Parikh, MD
Rostraver Township

Board-certified family medicine specialist Krishna Parikh, MD, joins the team at Penn Highlands Family Medicine located at 800 Plaza Drive, Suite 290, in Rostraver Township.

Dr. Parikh is a graduate of Saint George’s University in St. George’s, Grenada. She completed her internship and residency in family medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson SOM Family Medicine at CentraState in Freehold, N.J.

She is a member of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Macy L. Rupprecht, DO
St. Marys

Dual-board-certified physician Macy L. Rupprecht, DO, joins the hospitalist program at Penn Highlands Elk, located at 763 Johnsonburg Road in St. Marys.

As a hospitalist, Dr. Rupprecht provides care for patients while they are admitted to the hospital. She works closely with your primary care provider to collaborate and communicate about your previous care, current diagnosis, medications and treatment plans.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Rupprecht practiced at Eastern Shore Rural Health System in Onancock, Va.; Ascension Via Christi Immediate Care in Wichita, Kan.; Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kan.; and Midwest CES in Kansas City, Mo.

Dr. Rupprecht is a graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va., and completed her residency in family medicine at Via Christi in Wichita, Kan. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Catholic Medical Association.

Justin Zenner, DO
Charleroi, Rostraver Township

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Justin A. Zenner, DO, joins the teams at Penn Highlands Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, located at 625 Lincoln Avenue, Suite 107, in Charleroi and 800 Plaza Drive, Suite 400, in Rostraver Township.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Zenner practiced at Trinity Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Steubenville, Ohio; and Advanced Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation in Washington, Penn.

Dr. Zenner is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie. He completed his orthopedic residency at Ohio University in Youngstown and Warren, Ohio, and his fellowship in orthopedics sports medicine at West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.

Robert Zewe Jr., DO
Monongahela

Nocturnist Robert Zewe Jr., DO, joins the team at Penn Highlands Mon Valley located at 1163 Country Club Road in Monongahela.

As a nocturnist, Dr. Zewe is part of the hospitalist program and provides care during the overnight hours to patients admitted to the hospital, ensuring every patient receives excellent care at all hours of the day. Dr. Zewe works in partnership with your primary care provider, collaborating and communicating about your previous care, current diagnosis, medications and treatment plans.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Zewe practiced at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio; Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio; Southeast Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio; Delphi Health Systems in Rochester, N.Y.; Gouverneur Hospital in Gouverneur, N.Y.; VA Medical Center in Bath N.Y.; Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, N.Y.; TLC Hospital in Silver Creek, N.Y.; Elk Regional Medical Center in St. Mary's; Somerset Hospital in Somerset; St. Vincent Medical Center in Erie; Waverly Clinic in Waverly, Ohio; West Union Clinic in West Union, Ohio; Clarion Clinic in Clarion; and Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

Dr. Zewe is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Hamot Medical Center in Erie. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He also earned a Master of Health Service Administration at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie.
