Welcome New Physicians – February 2026

Penn Highlands Healthcare offers 550+ physicians who provide a wide range of care and treatments at our nine hospitals and locations throughout 26 counties in Pennsylvania that include community medical buildings, outpatient facilities, surgery centers and physician practices. We are pleased to welcome the following physicians who recently joined our medical staff.

Matthew Ellenberg, DO
Huntingdon, State College, Tyrone

Emergency medicine physician, Matthew Ellenberg, DO, joins the teams at Penn Highlands Huntingdon located at 1225 Warm Springs Avenue in Huntingdon; Penn Highlands State College located at 239 Colonnade Boulevard in State College; and Penn Highlands Tyrone located at 187 Hospital Drive in Tyrone.

Dr. Ellenberg graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He completed an internship in internal medicine at University of North Carolina Blue Ridge in Morganton, NC. Dr. Ellenberg completed his residency in emergency medicine at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Chayakrit Krittanawong, MD, FACC
Monongahela

Interventional cardiologist Chayakrit Krittanawong, MD, FACC, joins the team at Penn Highlands Cardiology, located at 1163 Country Club Road, Fourth Floor, in Monongahela.

He has more than a decade of experience. Dr. Krittanawong has completed multiple fellowships, achieving the highest level of education and training in his specialty. As an interventional cardiologist, he provides highly skilled care to patients experiencing conditions like coronary artery disease, heart attacks, peripheral artery disease, valve problems and congenital heart defects.

He is a graduate of Mahidol University, in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Krittanawong completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Genomic and Metabolomic Training from Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, OH. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York, NY. He completed his fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, TX and NYU Langone Health, in New York, NY. Dr. Krittanawong is triple board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Krittanawong is a member of the American Heart Association; American College of Cardiology; and American College of Physicians.

Donald Scott Schneider, MD
Clearfield, State College

Board-certified gastroenterologist Donald Scott Schneider, MD, has joined the team at Penn Highlands Gastroenterology, located at 239 Colonnade Boulevard, First Floor in State College. Dr. Schneider will continue to see patients in the Clearfield office, located at 807 Turnpike Avenue, Suite 220. Dr. Schneider is fellowship-trained and provides comprehensive gastroenterology care. He has more than three decades of experience and has served in prominent positions, including endoscopy medical director.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Schneider practiced at Geisinger Health System in State College; Brunswick Gastroenterology Associates in Brunswick, Maine; Geisinger Medical Center in Danville; Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene, N.H.; and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, NY. Dr. Schneider is a graduate of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, N.Y. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, N.Y. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology with advanced endoscopic year at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Kelley Smith, DO
DuBois, State College

Board-certified general surgeon Kelley Smith, DO, has joined the team at Penn Highlands General Surgery, located at 239 Colonnade Boulevard, First Floor in State College. Dr. Smith will continue to see patients in the DuBois office, located in the Medical Arts Building at 145 Hospital Avenue, Suite 215. Dr. Smith provides a comprehensive range of surgical procedures and specializes in women’s health and genetic testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

Dr. Smith is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her residency at Midwestern University, St. James Hospital and Medical Centers, in Olympia Fields, IL. She is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American College of Clinical Wound Specialists, and a member of the American College of Breast Surgeons.

Duane Tull, MD, FACS
Clearfield, State College

Board-certified surgeon Duane Tull, MD, FACS, joins the teams at Penn Highlands General Surgery, located at 815 Doctors Drive, 2nd Floor in Clearfield and 239 Colonnade Boulevard, 1st Floor in State College; and the Wound Clinic located at 809 Turnpike Avenue in Clearfield.

He has three decades of experience. As a general surgeon, Dr. Tull operates on various parts of the body, including the abdomen, digestive tract, endocrine system, skin and blood vessels. Dr. Tull is also certified on the da Vinci Xi system and specializes in minimally invasive surgeries.

Dr. Tull is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School, in Norfolk, VA. He completed his residencies in general surgery at Christiana Care Health System, and The Medical Center of Delaware, in Newark, DE.

He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
