Welcome, Shelana Gibbs-McElvy, MD

Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes Dr. Shelana Gibbs-McElvy, board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, to its medical staff.

Dr. Gibbs-McElvy joins the teams at The Rehabilitation Center and Penn Highlands Interventional Pain Center, located at 145 Hospital Avenue in DuBois.

Dr. Gibbs-McElvy is a highly skilled specialist, with more than 20 years of experience. She is here to help patients recovering from illness, injury or surgery regain independence and get back to life. In addition to providing the very best care to her patients, Dr. Gibbs-McElvy enjoys reading, watching movies, gardening and writing short stories and poetry.

Common treatments and procedures include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, burn care, muscle rehabilitation, polio, bone rehabilitation, joint rehabilitation, occupational injuries, spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, pain, and stroke.

Prior to joining Penn Highlands, Dr. Gibbs-McElvy was the medical director at StoneRise Healthcare in Charleston, W.Va. She also served as the medical director at Healthsouth Mountainview in Morgantown, WV.; and at University Hospital Avon Rehabilitation Center in Avon, Ohio.

Dr. Gibbs-McElvy graduated from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh. She is a member of American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
