Orthopedic Care Is About Bones And Muscles

Whether you’ve injured yourself doing a favorite activity or your joints have become damaged from arthritis or overuse, the orthopedic team at Penn Highlands Healthcare can help. Our specialists provide both non-surgical and surgical treatments for patients with athletic injuries or conditions that are causing pain or the need for joint replacement.

Our surgeons, therapists, and other team members use the latest techniques, medications and capabilities to provide the best care available and get you moving again.

At Penn Highlands Healthcare, we specialize in knee, hip and shoulder replacements, along with surgeries to correct your feet, spine and hands. In addition, we collaborate with physical therapists and other rehabilitation specialists to develop individualized strengthening exercises and care plans.

If your surgery comes after a fall or accident, our orthopedic surgicalists are available to evaluate your injury and provide a plan of care, including surgery, if necessary. Follow-up is then done in our Fracture Clinic, located in the DuBois Community Medical Building.

The Orthopedic Center Is A Specialized Unit

The Orthopedic Center is a great choice for recovery after an orthopedic injury or surgery. It is located on the fifth floor of Penn Highlands DuBois. In conjunction with The Rehabilitation Center, it offers a specific recovery process designed to get patients back to their active lifestyles following a surgery or an injury that results in admission to the hospital. Patients are transferred into our modern, specialized unit, where they are seen by expert surgeons, specially trained nurses, therapists and aides.

The Orthopedic Center is designed to make patients feel as though they are in the comfort of their own homes. A large group room is designated for dining but is also used for educational programs and support groups.

The therapy gyms are located on this floor, with one entire wall of glass that overlooks the DuBois hillside. Patients enjoy a beautiful view while working on improving their function in order to return home.
