Alexander Shorshtein, MD, MBA is a board-certified anesthesiologist and the System Medical Director of Anesthesia at Penn Highlands Healthcare.

Dr. Shorshtein has years of leadership experience and decades of clinical experience. As System Medical Director of Anesthesia, he brings transformational leadership, outcome-driven results and trusted care to the anesthesiology department at Penn Highlands.

Dr. Shorshtein has been at the forefront of cutting-edge medicine throughout his career. Alongside a leading neurosurgeon, he developed a specific infusion protocol (Propofol/Dexmedetomidine combination) that created a systemic approach to Parkison’s disease treatment.

Patient safety is Dr. Shorshtein’s top priority, and he has introduced many innovations to anesthesiology departments around the country to increase the safety and satisfaction of patients.
