Welcome Michael T. Wingate, MD

Penn Highlands DuBois and Penn Highlands Elk welcome Michael T. Wingate, MD, to its medical staff, according to John Sutika, president of Penn Highlands DuBois and Bradley Chapman, president of Penn Highlands Elk.

Wingate is a general surgeon who will provide patients with general surgery consultation and operations.

“We are happy to have Dr. Wingate join our team at Penn Highlands DuBois,” said Sutika. “Our patients will benefit from his knowledge and expertise.”

“Dr. Wingate will be a great addition to our general surgery team and the St. Marys community,” said Chapman. “We are pleased to welcome him to the Penn Highlands Elk medical staff.”

Wingate comes to Penn Highlands Healthcare from the Meadville Medical Center in Meadville, Pa. where he served as the attending general and trauma surgeon and the interim trauma director. Additionally, he has worked as an associate clinical instructor of surgery at the State University of New York at Syracuse School of Medicine.

Wingate served in the United States Air Force, where he studied electronic cryptographic technology before he earned his bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Binghamton and his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed a surgical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and his residency in general surgery at West Virginia University. Additionally, he studied hyperbaric surgery at Ohio State University.

He is a board certified general and trauma surgeon, with experience in a variety of laparoscopic and open general surgery procedures, as well as hyperbaric oxygen and wound care.
