J.C. Blair CEO Returns to UPMC Pinnacle as Vice President of Operations

J.C. Blair Health System President and CEO Adam Dimm announced his plan to leave his post at J.C. Blair effective August 1, 2018. He returns to UPMC Pinnacle as vice president of operations, working directly with UPMC Pinnacle CEO Phil Guarneschelli.

Adam Dimm has served as J.C. Blair’s CEO since July 1, 2017. He joined J.C. Blair in 2014 as PinnacleHealth's director of strategic management services, when J.C. Blair became an affiliate of PinnacleHealth in May 2014. He was named vice president and chief operating officer in January 2015.

Dimm began working with UPMC Pinnacle in 1999, first as an emergency department technician and working his way up to systems analyst for emergency services, manager of business and finance for the Department of Nursing, business manager for the Office of the President, and director of strategic management services which brought him to J.C. Blair.

“In the past four years, Adam has operationalized J.C. Blair's strategic plan and has led J.C. Blair back to its role as the local leader in healthcare for the region. We are grateful for his leadership and wish him well in his new position,” said board chair Fred Price.

Under Dimm’s leadership, J.C. Blair built the new Convenient Care Center, upgraded and expanded the Emergency Department, and opened the heart catheterization lab, which performed over 500 procedures in its first year, far outperforming projections. New equipment has been added and upgrades have been made to nearly every department in the hospital. Dozens of new physicians have joined the medical staff. Patient volume, revenue and cost savings have increased. His leadership team has championed quality improvements that have led to J.C. Blair's national 4-star ranking and top 100 rural and community hospital recognition.

"I want to thank the J.C. Blair board for this opportunity to be a part of J.C. Blair's leadership team for the past four years,” said Dimm. “I have had a great experience and feel we have accomplished our goals. J.C. Blair is now positioned for a great future as a strong partner to a larger health system. To have several large health systems bidding for J.C. Blair to be a part of their system is a success story in itself.

“I want to thank our operational team and system leadership, and all employees who dedicate each and every working day to our patients and visitors. Together, we have developed an organization that focuses on improving quality, access and affordability of healthcare for the communities we serve," he added.

Current Executive Vice President Joe Myers will serve as J.C. Blair’s interim administrator while the Board works with new partner in developing a definitive partnership agreement and leadership positions.
