DEXA Scans
Low-Dose Measure Of Bone Density
Penn Highlands Healthcare offers DEXA Scans a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry scan, also called a bone density scan, a common technique used to measure bone density. This completely painless procedure is easily performed and exposes the patient to minimal radiation.
DEXA scans takes approximately 15 minutes. Before the bone density test begins, you will be asked to lie down on a table. A small X-ray will scan your lumbar spine and both hips.
