Private Duty Nursing Services

Private Duty Nurse services may be available in some areas for those who do not qualify for Medicare Certified home health services. In Elk County, a Registered Nurse can provide skilled nursing services lab collections, injections, and more. In Elk, Cameron and McKean Counties, Licensed Practical Nurses can provide nursing services, such as pill box management, pedicures as other services overseen by the Registered Nurse.

Home Support Services

As a family caregiver, you may be stressed from the responsibilities of providing around-the-clock care or you may fear for a loved one’s safety. The goal of Penn Highlands Community Nurses Private Duty — Home Support Services is to help you maintain your loved one’s quality of life at home, where they feel safe and comfortable.

Private duty home support care can vary depending on your needs. Personal care aides can provide basic support for activities of daily living.

If your loved one needs help with personal grooming, household chores, errands, and meals — essential services that allow to safely remain in their homes, we can help with that, too. Private duty, or home support, services are provided by our well-trained, compassionate in-home caregivers. Our personal care aides can help with:

  • Personal grooming, such as bathing, shaving, getting dressed, oral care, and hair care
  • Moving around the house safely and getting in and out of the bed and shower
  • Errands, such as grocery shopping
  • Preparing meals and assisting with feeding
  • Household chores including light housekeeping, changing bed linens, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and laundry
  • Medication reminders

Our personal care aides also provide respite care so that you can get a break from your caregiving duties. They stay with your loved one and provide companionship and socialization so they are never alone. Our personal care aides are thoroughly trained to offer a source of trusted supervision for people with all types of medical conditions, including Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Costs of Private Duty Services

Home Support services are provided on an as-needed, hourly basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may be paid by the client, long-term care insurance, county OPTIONS programs, Veterans Administration, Community Health Choices Managed Care Waiver or by other programs. Fees for Private Duty Nursing services are based upon a reasonable per-visit rate paid by the client or some county OPTIONS programs.
