Pinecrest Manor Earns Five-Star Rating from CMS

Pinecrest Manor, a service of Penn Highlands Elk, has earned the prestigious five-star overall rating – the highest possible – from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS.

Among 29 facilities, Pinecrest Manor is the only five-star skilled nursing facility in Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, Jefferson, Forest, Warren, Potter, Clinton, Centre and Clarion counties, according to data on the Nursing Home Compare site at Medicare.gov. The rating is based on overall performance in health inspections, staffing and quality of resident care measures. Pinecrest Manor also earned a five-star rating in quality.

“It takes consistent, steadfast dedication to residents to achieve a five-star rating and we are proud to be recognized by the CMS for our ongoing efforts,” Megan Bolden, administrator of Pinecrest Manor, said. “This is a true testament to our team that works diligently to ensure our residents receive the best care possible.”

CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which they may want to ask questions. Consumers can visit the Nursing Home Compare site at Medicare.gov and enter their zip code to view the ratings of all facilities within a specific radius.

Pinecrest Manor is a 138-bed skilled nursing facility providing long-term, short-term and respite care to individuals from St. Marys and the surrounding communities. The facility is staffed by an interdisciplinary team of therapists, physicians, registered and licensed nurses, social workers, dietitians, activities assistants and nursing aides who help residents meet their goals and achieve the highest level of success.

Front entrance and lobby renovations are soon to be completed at Pinecrest Manor and room renovations are coming in 2018.

“In addition to excellence in quality of care, we are focused on providing a welcoming and healing environment for our residents, some of whom we have been privileged to serve for more than two decades,” said Bradley Chapman, FACHE, PH Elk president. “We continuously strive to be the leader in skilled nursing care for our community.”
